MSC Q1 Update

Updated: Oct 5

We have formal Section Meetings twice a year – our last AGM was on the 27 March and our next GM is scheduled for Wednesday 16 October – so we thought it would be useful to provide a brief interim update on our club

Commercial:

Our commercial sales in Q1 were up 24% versus last year thanks to increased use by section members and especially Cricket Colts on Friday evenings and more midweek summer hockey. In other good news, our application to extend our premises license to include an area outside and adjacent to the building has now been approved. Riyad Tibi one of our MSCC Directors has recently stepped down so we now have a vacancy for someone to lead the communications across the club and plans between the Sections. David Leggett would be delighted to hear from any interested members.

Operations / Maintenance:

We have made good progress to address the actions identified as needing attention in our fire risk assessment. The outside storage unit, for commercial use, is now fully operational and work to complete moving everything from the electrical mains cupboard into the unit is nearing completion. Linked smoke alarms have also been fitted inside the building.

Our bi-annual tree survey and remedial works have been completed. This is a legal requirement which, as well as keeping our trees in good condition, helps to ensure no one is injured by a falling tree.

The new pedestrian gate at the main entrance has been installed and the entrance code shared with all sections. Please use it where possible so that we can minimise the risk of accidents between pedestrians and vehicles.

MSC Finances:

The MSC Finances are on budget for Q1 and we will provide a full mid-year update at the General Meeting in October.

MSC Website:

Thanks to David Willcox we now have an excellent MSC Website marlowsportsclub.org.uk Please have a look and it would be great to feature Section events and activities on here.

Major Events:

  • New Hockey all-waether pitch is on plan to be completed for use from early August - Thanks to all our members and visitors you for your current understanding with the parking and access disruption caused.

We have a great Autumn of events lined up:

  • Sections Pétanque Evening on Friday 20 September

  • Riders Annual Red Kite Ride on Sunday 1 September

  • Monster Fireworks on Saturday 2 November

  • Striders Marlow Half Marathon, Frankenstein and Marlow 7 on Sunday 3 November

Please support these great MSC social and fundraising events

All the best

Keith – Chairman Marlow Sports Club
